Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences was honored by the Cameroon Association of the Greater Capital District with the organization’s Community Service Award; Provost Tarun Patel accepted the award on behalf of the College.
The Community Service Award was given to the College in recognition of the work ACPHS has done in bringing pharmaceutical and clinical services to medically underserved areas of the Capital Region

ACPHS President Greg Dewey was honored by Senior Services of Albany at the organization’s 22nd annual Third Age Achievement Awards ceremony held on May 18; he was recognized in the category of Education.

Jennifer Mathews, PhD, has been named the Associate Dean for the ACPHS Vermont Campus; the campus opened in Colchester in 2009 and remains home to the only Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program in the state.
As Associate Dean, Dr. Mathews will serve as the Senior Academic Officer and Administrative Officer of the campus

Assistant Professor of Medicinal Chemistry Christopher Cioffi, PhD, will serve as co-principal investigator on an NIH grant seeking to develop novel drug compounds for treating Age-related Macular Degeneration. The grant, which totals $1.45 million over three years, will be shared with co-principal investigator Konstantin Petrukhin, PhD, Associate Professor of Ophthalmic Sciences at Columbia University Medical Center

A new agreement between ACPHS and the University at Albany will allow students to simultaneously work towards a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Public Health, saving both time and money for those seeking to earn the two degrees.
Under the partnership, students studying for a Bachelor’s degree at ACPHS will be able to apply, and if accepted, seamlessly matriculate into UAlbany’s Master of Public Health program after three years, before they have fulfilled all of their undergraduate requirements
