Clubs & Organizations

With over 55+ active clubs and professional organizations on campus, ACPHS has something for everyone! 

CLUBS

ACPHS Baseball is made up of a group of players whose drive and dedication for achievement and excellence on the field will fuel them beyond the diamond and into their future careers. 

ACS on Campus is a club sponsored by the American Cancer Society. It is a nationwide collaboration of college students, faculty, and staff dedicated to educating people about cancer, advocating for cancer research, fighting for survivors, and planning and executing the annual Relay for Life event. Cancer touches the lives of many, and ACS on Campus and its members are dedicated to fighting for a cure! 

Alzheimer's Awareness Club hosts entertainment and service events to educate, raise awareness, fundraise, and provide advocacy surrounding one of the leading challenges in brain science. 

Animals in Medical Professions (AMP) fosters a positive environment regarding pets, emotional support animals, service animals, and creatures of all kinds through education, advocacy, and service. AMPs objective is to engage ACPHS students in a meaningful way to increase their awareness, knowledge, and skills relating to the incorporation of animals in medical professions and wellness at large. 

Another Creative Perspective (ACP) is the club for creativity and a platform for students to show their talents on campus! ACP’s mission is to provide students with a multitude of opportunities to express themselves creatively.  

Boxing Club aims to provide students with the opportunity to learn boxing in a positive environment that encourages teamwork and builds self-esteem. 

Black Student Union (BSU) aims to provide an inclusive space for all Black students while promoting proactive leadership, student growth, empowerment, and networking through community outreach. BSU advocates a sense of pride and appreciation of Black culture and heritage.  

Commuter Student Club provides a network between current and new ACPHS commuter students with the aim of creating a sense of community and connection as well as to promote active commuter student involvement within both the ACPHS community and the community at-large. 

Compounding Club looks to educate students on potential careers through opportunities to create items, such as lip balm and soap, in a friendly environment. Compounding Clubs main goal is to grow a passion for compounding on campus while exploring it in fun and creative ways. 

Craft Club hosts fun and easy to do DIY crafts. Previous crafts include spray paint mortar and pestles, paint nights led by faculty members, DIY tote bags and much more. This club is a great way to unwind from class work and enjoy time with other students on campus! 

Dance Team provides students an opportunity to fulfill a passion for dance. While learning routines, technique is developed as well as relationships. Hip-hop routines are performed at basketball games in the fall. A special dance show is organized in the spring, which includes a variety of dance styles. 

Equestrian Club is for anyone who loves horses and wants to spend time with them. No experience is necessary, and the Equestrian Club provides great stress relief with a little “animal therapy." 

Game Club is all about hanging out with your friends and playing some of the best video games, board games, card games, and really any other game that you can imagine! This club is open to everyone, and focuses on having fun, unwinding, and making friends.  

Integrative Medicine Club promotes optimal holistic health awareness of mind, body, and soul by using an integrative approach of allopathic and complementary alternative medicine. The purpose of this club is to educate the student body on various forms of medicine through speaker, compounding, and meditation events. 

Jewish Cultural Club (JCC) is open to all students and aims to bring the Jewish community to ACPHS through regular events and celebrations.  

Journal Club is dedicated to providing all students with further education and examples of what a journal club looks like once you reach rotations and in practice. 

Multicultural Club (MCC) focuses on the celebration and education of different cultures and their holidays. MCC strives to make a cultural impact by providing students the chance to learn and experience a different culture in a fun and innovative way. 

Muslim Student Association (MSA) aims to support Muslim students and create a sense of community for students to learn about Islam. MSA brings all backgrounds and levels of faith together to understand and appreciate commonalities and evolve tolerance through an understanding of the importance of religious diversity. MSA encourages promoting a positive image of Islam and encourages Muslims and non-Muslims alike to evolve intellectually, physically, and spiritually during their careers at ACPHS. MSA welcomes all, regardless of the extent of one's religious knowledge or determination. 

Orthodox Christian Student Association (OCSA) is open to all students and aims to provide opportunities to grow spiritually and learn more about Orthodox Christianity. 

Pinky Swear PACK raises awareness for pediatric cancer on campus as well as in the community through fundraisers and events that support the mission of the Pinky Swear PACK Program. 

Pre-Physician Assistant Club is for students interested in pursuing PA school or who simply want to learn more about the profession. The club hosts professional and student speakers and explores various PA programs in the area. It provides students with opportunities to understand the PA profession and support each other along the way. 

Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA) aims to make ACPHS a safe and welcoming place for students, faculty, and staff of all gender identities and sexual orientations. Through educational events and meetings, the club aims to help students and administration feel comfortable with themselves and open the campus’s eyes on LGBTQ+ topics. Going even further, SAGA aims to de-stigmatize the conversation surrounding sexuality and gender and create an atmosphere of freedom to express one’s gender and sexual identity. 

Ski and Snowboard Club organizes group trips to local ski areas near the Capital District as well as some in Vermont on weekends, and is focused on fun, making memories, and all things winter. 

Students Performing Arts in the Healthcare Community (SPAHC) is the music and performing arts art group on campus. With band, strings, and vocal groups that meet weekly to practice for performances, SPAHC hosts music related events for everyone to enjoy. 

Tennis Club is a flexible program that encourages tennis players of all experience levels to join and create a balanced environment for every member, whether it be competitive or casual. Tennis is played on indoor and outdoor courts, primarily on the weekends. 

The Green Team provides activities and education to get students more invested in the health of the environment so that we can grow together as a community. 

The Lighthouse seeks to befriend people of all faiths, serve them at both their physical and spiritual needs, and share with them the love of Christ. 

PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS

American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists (AAPP) aims to encourage the development of student pharmacists into knowledgeable and competent healthcare professionals by providing opportunities to understand the unique needs of individuals living with psychiatric and/or neurologic illness. By increasing student awareness of current issues facing the psychiatric and neurologic pharmacy profession through programs, meetings, speakers and other opportunities for engagement, AAPP promotes awareness, the importance of mental health, and the destigmatization of mental illness to the ACPHS community and people living with mental disorders. AAPP also aims at promoting the practice of the Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacy specialty to ACPHS students through education, discussion, and fundraising activities. 

American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) is a premier professional and scientific organization of pharmaceutical scientists worldwide, who are dedicated to discovery, development, and manufacture of pharmaceutical products and therapies through advances in science and technology. The AAPS-ACPHS Student Chapter serves the campus and students by cultivating interest in the pharmaceutical sciences, encouraging student participation in research and facilitating research-related activities. 

American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) is a professional and scientific organization that provides leadership, professional development, advocacy and resources that enable clinical pharmacists to achieve excellence in practice, research and education. Students provide direct-patient care to members of the community through clinical services. Patient care programs include Cardiovascular and Renal Evaluation (CaRE) screenings, Script Your Future events, and Clinical Pharmacy Challenge nights. 

Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) is a national professional society of pharmacists, health care practitioners and others who develop and provide clinical, educational, and business management services. AMCP is dedicated to the concept and practice of pharmaceutical care in managed health care environments. The student chapter of AMCP enables members to experience managed care pharmacy policies, practices and concerns through direct contact with AMCP members. Throughout the course of the year there are countless learning and networking opportunities such as health screenings, the P&T competition, national conferences, career panels, and many others. 

American Medical Student Association (AMSA) has a half-century history of medical student activism and is the oldest and largest independent association of physicians-in-training in the United States. AMSA members are medical students, premedical students, interns, residents and practicing physicians. AMSA is the only national, independent, student-led association dedicated to physicians-in-training. 

American Pharmacists Association- Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) aims to improve patient care and provide opportunities for professional growth. Patient Care projects focus on diabetes education, immunization advocacy and prescription drug abuse education for a breadth of the population from elementary school-aged children to elderly patients. The association prepares student pharmacists for any field of pharmacy they wish to pursue and welcome all years in school. 

American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ACPHS-ASCP) distributes information about the role of consultant, senior-care, and long-term care pharmacists. ACPHS-ASCP will operate as a student chapter to lobby for the participation and education of student pharmacists in long-term care pharmacy. This organization assists in providing the ever-growing senior population of America with the associated medication services required to achieve safe and effective medication use for long-term care residents. ACPHS-ASCP focuses on serving by means of volunteering and fundraising with the local senior and long-term care populations of the Capital Region of New York. ASCP’s goal is to promote healthy aging and comfort in long-term care environments by advocating for appropriate medication use and optimizing patient health outcomes.

Industry Pharmacists Organization (IPhO) focuses specifically on students who have a career interest in the pharmaceutical industry. The chapter provides professional development opportunities through workshops and guest speakers. Follow ACPHS IPhO on Instagram.

Microbiology & Infectious Disease Organization (MIDO) serves as a forum where all undergraduate and graduate students interested in microbiology and infectious diseases can come together and learn about career opportunities with a microbiology degree, interact with core microbiology faculty, and attend interesting discussions about new research. MIDO also offers academic and professional mentorship between the Graduate Students and Undergraduate Students. 

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) provides members with opportunities to engage with MSF's work, help raise funds for the organization, host events on campus, as well as volunteering around the Albany area to support the cause. The MSF-ACPHS coalition raises awareness on the importance of healthcare accessibility, starting with our local community, and encourages peers to mirror and act upon the mission. 

National Community Oncology Dispensing Association (NCODA) aims to advance the value of dispensing practices for oncology physicians through leadership, expertise, quality standards, and sharing of best practices with all members. NCODA hopes to strengthen oncology organizations through the adoption of quality standards and sharing of best practices in order to provide the best care possible for the patient through collaborative efforts between oncologists and pharmacists. 

National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) is an organization of students, pharmacists and other advocates that promote independent pharmacy growth. Explore the field of independent pharmacy through visits to independent pharmacies, coordinating Bone Density & Women’s Health events, fighting for independent pharmacy legislation and hosting CPR trainings on campus. 

Pediatric Pharmacy Association unites students interested in pediatric pharmacy to educate patients and their families of the importance of medication safety through C.A.R.E. - Collaboration, Advocacy, Research, Education. 

Public Health Association (PHA) is determined to educate, improve and expand the knowledge of public health among students through a variety of curricular and co-curricular student activity programming. 

Phi Lambda Sigma, Pharmacy Leadership Society (PLS) is a National Leadership Society dedicated to the recognition, contributions and support of pharmacy students to their school, community and chosen profession. Admission into the society is based on peer recognition of an individual’s leadership and organizational skills demonstrated throughout their time at the College. Applicants must have successfully completed 90 semester hours at ACPHS with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Students enrolled in the P1 year of pharmacy school or above are eligible to apply for membership. 

Rho Chi Academic Honor Society is the National Academic Honor Society for Pharmacy. The Society recognizes professional and intellectual achievement and encourages high standards of conduct. Rho Chi membership is upon invitation only for full-time pharmacy students in the top 20% of their class academically at the time of the induction invitation. Additionally, invited candidates must have no disciplinary action for academic dishonesty, misconduct, or unprofessional behavior. Rho Chi organizes many activities, centralized around a “balance beyond the books” theme, including activities like exam reviews and trivia nights. Rho Chi also participates in joint projects with organizations and clubs on campus. Recent joint projects focused on prescription drug abuse and pharmacy advocacy/legislation. 

Student Pharmacist Society of the State of New York (SPSSNY) is an affiliate of Pharmacist Society of the State of New York. The aim of the Society is to unite the pharmacists of the State for mutual assistance, encouragement and improvement in order to maintain the standard of pharmacy practice at a high professional and ethical level. 

Student Society of Health Systems Pharmacy (ASHP-SSHP) is an organization dedicated to making students aware of pharmacy practice in health systems; providing information to students about career directions and credentials needed for pharmacy practice in health systems; fostering leadership and career development; and encouraging membership and participation in the student, local, state and national societies as a student and after graduation. SSHP collaborates with the New York State Council of Health-System Pharmacists (NYSCHP). 

PROFESSIONAL FRATERNITIES

Lambda Kappa Sigma (LKS) is co-ed professional social pharmacy fraternity whose mission is to empower women in pharmacy. LKS provides opportunities for members to engage in philanthropic, professional, and social events. LKS encourages members to develop their professional and personal integrity, leadership, and scholarship. 

Phi Delta Chi (PDC) is a co-ed professional social pharmacy fraternity that strives to advance the science of pharmacy and promote a fraternal spirit among its brothers. The Alpha Theta chapter plans several professional and service projects both on campus and in the community, including the Hannaford Initiative, which consists of several presentations on campus and in the community and hosting a blood drive each semester with the American Red Cross. PDC provides many opportunities to develop future leaders in pharmacy while building lasting connections that span coast to coast.  

Rho Pi Phi (ROPE) is a co-ed professional social pharmacy fraternity dedicated to friendship, professionalism and community service. Giving back to the community is a pillar of the organization, and ROPE connections span both national and international.
