Welcome to the Lewis Library and the Information Commons

Together, we provide the resources, technology, instruction, and personal service that support the information needs of the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences learning community.

Library News & Tips

Please note that the Library will be CLOSED on Monday, February 15th.

ChEMBLdb, a vast online database of information on the properties and activities of drugs and drug-like small molecules and their targets, was launched in January 2010 with information on over half a million compounds. ChEMBLdb is a unique resource because of its focus on drug discovery and its size.

Information on an additional 100,000 compounds has been added to the database for its launch, taking the number of small molecules to over 520,000, and it contains over 2.4 million records of their effects on biological systems. The data include information about how small molecules bind to their targets, how these compounds affect cells and whole organisms, and information on the molecules' absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity.

Micromedex has launched a new interface, called Micromedex 2.0. This resource has been rebuilt to work like familiar search engines. Results can be filtered by type and include text that puts the results in context. Results include direct links to summary data, drug consults, drug monographs, side-by-side comparisons, IV compatibility, and more, plus intuitive navigation menus that collapse and expand. You may download Micromedex 2.0 to your iPhone, iPod Touch, or Blackberry.
