The Stack Family Center for Biopharmaceutical Education and Training (CBET) at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has been selected to host the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals’ (NIIMBL) eXperience program for the third consecutive year.

The NIIMBL eXperience program is designed to provide underrepresented minority students completing their first or second year of college with a glimpse into the field of biopharmaceuticals.

CBET is one of seven NIIMBL eXperience program sites in regions throughout the United States during the summer of 2025, including

  • Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (Northeast)

  • Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC) at North Carolina State University (Southeast)

  • Puerto Rico Science Technology and Research Trust (Puerto Rico)

  • Purdue University (Midwest)

  • Santa Clara University (West)

  • University of Houston (South)

  • Wistar Institute (Mid-Atlantic)

Each location will host a week-long program designed to foster diversity within the biopharmaceutical industry and introduce college students in STEM majors to new career possibilities.

“Since its inception in 2019, the NIIMBL eXperience has introduced 139 college students from 88 academic institutions to biopharmaceutical industry careers,” said CBET Executive Director, Michelle Lewis Ph.D. “We’re thrilled to continue playing a role in building and diversifying this field and look forward to meeting our next cohort of future biopharma leaders.”

The 2025 cohort will learn about the availability of an online version of ACPHS’ Master of Science in Biotechnology. The online track will allow students from across the country to learn the theory and practices of biomanufacturing medicines, biologics, vaccines and cell and gene therapy products

Registration to participate is open until February 7, 2025.

This work is performed under financial assistance award #70NANB21H086 from the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology. For more information, visit https://www.niimbl.org/workforce/niimbl-experience/.

The Stack Family Center for Biopharmaceutical Education and Training (CBET) is ACPHS’ response to the rapidly growing biopharmaceutical field and the need for an educated workforce, which has been cited as one of the critical constraints to growth of the biopharmaceutical industry. The Center provides students with the knowledge and hands-on experience to bring innovative biopharmaceuticals to patients. CBET is the first such training facility in the nation to be created by a pharmacy college. For more information, visit cbet.acphs.edu/.
