Paige Spiess was one of the first students to sign up last year for the Bachelor’s in Health Sciences degree program, which became an official ACPHS offering this fall.
Then a junior majoring in biomedical technology, she saw the pre-professional components of the BSHS as the perfect complement to the scientific grounding she’d already received, in preparation for her training as a physician assistant.
As she graduates this month and moves into Albany Medical College’s PA program on Jan. 2, she is glad to have taken courses in patient-provider communications and public health, among others.
“When they announced the Health Sciences program, I fell in love with it,” Spiess said. “It made my degree well-rounded and patient-centered.”
Spiess is one of two students to receive the first BSHS degrees from ACPHS in December 2024. The other is Huwado Obaid. They are among 31 students to complete their degrees this month.
Nearly a third of December graduates (nine) are receiving their master’s in biomedical sciences, a one-year program that offers the option to begin in spring. Another seven are receiving master’s degrees in cytotechnology and molecular cytology, a program that runs 16 months from August to the following December. Three students who started their programs at the now-closed College of Saint Rose will receive bachelor’s degrees in forensic psychology through a teach-out program with ACPHS.
The remaining ten graduates are receiving bachelor’s degrees in pharmaceutical sciences and public health, master’s in biomedical technology, master’s in pharmaceutical sciences and doctorates in pharmacy.
Congratulations to all our December 2024 graduates!
