A new class of students arrived on the ACPHS campus recently, greeted by resident advisors, volunteer orientation leaders, and members of the ACPHS community with high energy and enthusiasm as they moved into their new homes-away-from-home. Yesterday, the fall semester commenced as students attended class, met faculty and learned about what was on the docket for the fall.

What else is happening this fall across campus? So. Very. Much.

Here are some of the highlights:

August

Today, the Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion is hosting an birthday open house from 1 – 2:15 pm in the DEI Suite, Room 306 in the Library to celebrate their first year at the College. The event will feature wonderful food from across the globe and you can learn more about the opportunities and events the Office of DEI is organizing for the year. Enjoy snacks from around the world!

On Thursday, August 29, take an opportunity to get to know the more than 55-plus clubs and professional organizations at the Involvement Fair in the Albert M. White Gymnasium from 5:30 – 7 pm. The popular event is co-sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership and the Student Government Association.

September

After a quick break to commemorate Labor Day, the semester kicks into high gear.

Starting off strong, the ACPHS White Coat Ceremony will be held on Friday, September 27 at 4 pm in the Albert M. White Gymnasium. The time-honored event marks an important milestone for P1 students advancing toward a pharmacy career.

Reunion Weekend kicks off Friday, September 27 - 28. The College will celebrate classes ending in '4' and '9' but all alumni are welcome to join the festivities such as Alumni soccer and basketball games, Alumni Awards Celebration Dinner, Milestone Brunch, and Alumni Spirit Night.

October

The campus will host the first of two Open Houses for prospective students on October 5 in the Gozzo Center. The day provides an opportunity for students to tour campus, learn about academic programs, meet faculty, and attend sessions designed to help guide students on their interests.

The Center for Student Success’ annual Career Fair will take place on Friday, October 18th from 2 - 4 pm in the Albert M. White Gymnasium.  It’s an excellent opportunity to meet prospective employers, as well as learn about programs and other post-graduation opportunities. Several alumni from ACPHS’ growing network also attend to support our students’ efforts.

Panther parents and families will be back on campus October 25-27 for Family Weekend. There will be a variety of events and speakers planned, so stay tuned for more details online.

On Saturday, October 26, the American Pharmacist Association Academy of Student Pharmacists at ACPHS will host the Albany Community Health and Wellness Expo at Crossgates Mall from 11 am – 2 pm. The annual event is open to the entire community and will feature a variety of free services such as blood pressure screenings, flu shot clinics, bone density screenings, and much more.

Then on Tuesday, October 29, educators from across the Capital Region will join members of the enrollment management team and faculty for an Educator’s Breakfast. This is another great opportunity to show off our beautiful campus and keep our esteemed educators updated about new programs and resources at ACPHS.

November/December

A new event, Scholarship Day, will be hosted for prospective students on Friday, October 4 as a way to showcase the campus and recruit the best and brightest of incoming students. It will precede the second of our Fall Open Houses for prospective new students on Saturday, November 9.

In November, the Professionalism Runway Show will take center stage in the Albert M. White Gymnasium. The event, which launched over a decade ago, features student models who are critiqued on their professional appearance and responses to fictional ethical dilemmas. It is hosted by the student organizations ASHP-SSHP and ACCP. Stayed tuned for the scheduled date.

The campus will break from November 27-29 to honor the Thanksgiving holiday. Students are encouraged to rest in advance of finals week which will begin on December 9 and end on the 13th. And once the semester ends, there is an extended opportunity to recharge for the spring semester which won’t commence until Monday, January 13, 2025!
