Joint Degree Programs

ACPHS offers students opportunities to pursue several additional courses of study through established agreements with area educational institutions.

These agreements allow for seamless transitions between ACPHS and programs listed below, often allowing students to receive multiple degrees in less time than it would take to pursue each degree separately.

  • B.S. / M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • B.S. / M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies
  • B.S. / M.D. (Pre-Med)
  • B.S. / J.D. (Law)
  • Pharm.D. or B.S. / M.S. in Clinical Leadership in Health Management
  • Pharm.D. or B.S. / M.B.A. in Health Systems Administration

B.S. / M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences
Students enrolled in this program will receive a B.S. degree in pharmaceutical sciences at the end of their fourth year at ACPHS and an M.S. from ACPHS at the end of the fifth year of study. The combined B.S./M.S. provides students with the training necessary to pursue graduate studies toward a Ph.D. or to pursue career opportunities in pharmaceutical or biomedical research.

B.S. / M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies
Qualified applicants may apply to a B.S. program at ACPHS and the M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies at Albany Medical College (AMC) as an entering freshman and earn these two degrees in a shortened period of time. Students enrolled in the joint program will complete their program of study with ACPHS at the end of fall semester of their fourth year and matriculate to AMC in the following spring.

Pre-Med Program
Qualified ACPHS students who are enrolled in the B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences program may apply to Albany Medical College at the end of their second year. If accepted, students are assured admission two years later, upon completion of their undergraduate degree requirements. The ACPHS Medical Student Advisory Board is available to assist students interested in this program or applying to another med school.

B.S./Juris Doctor (Law Degree)
This 3+3 program allows incoming students to apply to both ACPHS and Albany Law School for joint acceptance. Once in the program, students will complete the first three years at ACPHS. The remaining three years will be completed at Albany Law School. Students who successfully complete the program will be awarded a B.S. and a Juris Doctor in six years, instead of the typical seven.

Pharm.D. or B.S. / M.S. in Clinical Leadership in Health Management
Pharm.D. or B.S. / M.B.A. in Health Systems Administration

Union Graduate College and ACPHS offer a cooperative program that allows ACPHS students to begin courses toward a Master of Science in Clinical Leadership in Health Management or an MBA in Health Systems Administration degree while enrolled at ACPHS. Selected courses from the student’s curriculum also may be applied to the completion of the M.S. in Clinical Leadership. For more information on these two programs, please e-mail Joanne Fitzgerald or click on one of the above links to watch and listen to a presentation about the programs.
