The annual ACPHS Charity "Snow Ball" collected more than $5,000 worth of household items and gifts to benefit the Parsons Child and Family Center and the YWCA of Troy. Sponsored by the Student Government Association, this year's event drew approximately 500 students.
The cost for an ACPHS student was $10 with an approved donation. Approved donations, which were requested by the benefiting organizations, included items from the following categories:
- Cosmetics and beauty products
- Health and hygiene products
- Toys for children and teenagers
- Art supplies
- School supplies
- Clothes and pajamas
- Board games
- DVDs and DVD players
- Sports games and equipment
- Canned and dry foods
Parsons is the largest multi-services agency in New York's Capital Region dedicated to helping families and their children. The agency provides counseling services, parenting education, child abuse/neglect prevention and treatment, family strengthening programs, early childhood family support, special education, youth development programs, and mental health services.
The YWCA provides safe places for women and girls, builds strong women leaders, and advocates for women's rights and civil rights in Congress.
