Assistant Professor, Microbiology

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is seeking candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in microbiology. The primary role of this position will be to support the College’s undergraduate Microbiology and graduate Molecular Biosciences program.

It is anticipated that this position will be filled at the Assistant Professor level but well qualified candidates may be considered for advanced rank. The anticipated start date for this position is fall 2014, but it awaits final budgetary approval.

All applicants must have a Ph.D. and relevant post-doctoral experience. Applicants are expected to have a strong publication record, defined research plan for securing extramural funding, and a commitment to teaching and research at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Preference will be given to candidates with a primary research focus in one or more of the following areas of biomedical microbiology: infectious disease, immunology, host-microbe interactions, microbial pathogenesis, microbial physiology, microbial genetics, or vaccinology.

Qualified applicants in related specialties will also be given consideration and are encouraged to apply. It is desirable that candidates have prior independent teaching experience.
