Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) is recruiting for the newly created position of Academic Support Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Student Academic Support, the Coordinator will have a primary role in supporting the mission of the department through the daily operational management of several critical units of student support, including the Peer Mentoring Program (PMR) and Science Assistance Center (SAC). The Coordinator will play a critical role in maintaining the department’s College Reading and Learning Association tutor training certification and will interact with a variety of students, faculty, and staff to fulfill the mission of the department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: plan and advertise programming for the Office of Academic Learning Services, including workshops & study skills programming on both the Albany and Vermont campuses; support first and second year students seeking to improve their academic skills through meetings, consultations and follow-up appointments; provide workshops on college success; manage communication and social media sites; collaborate with advising to have mentors conduct outreach to students experiencing academic difficulty; represent the Office of Academic Learning Services at campus wide events (Open Houses, Sneak Preview Days and Orientation).
Master’s Degree in student services personnel, education, psychology, or other related field required. Two years of professional or paraprofessional experience in higher education student affairs required; experience in a learning center strongly preferred. Position requires strong attention to detail; ability to use a variety of technologies; knowledge of student development theory and practices; ability to develop rapport with students and establish appropriate boundaries; and experience working with students in an academic coaching or support role.
