Peer Tutoring

Peer Tutoring Program

The mission of Peer Tutoring at ACPHS is to encourage, promote, and foster students’ independent learning by providing peer-led academic assistance for core science and math courses. The program is certified through the College Reading & Learning Association’s (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program.

Types of Peer Tutoring Services

  • Individual Tutor Drop-In Sessions: Weekly scheduled hours for which no appointment is needed to see a tutor. Simply drop-in during the scheduled time. Please visit the Center for Student Success Canvas page to view tutors' drop-in hours.*

  • Group Tutor Sessions: Scheduled weekly, tutors are available to meet with students in small groups. No appointment needed!*

  • By Appointment Sessions: This is a one-on-one session with a tutor. Tutors list their availability and students can make an appointment via Upswing to meet individually with them.

Peer Tutoring occurs in individual and small group settings to emphasize the rich value of cooperative learning and reinforce time management skills. Tutors are current ACPHS students who have already taken the course, have been approved by a faculty member, and have received tutor training.

*Schedules may vary from semester to semester.
