Department of Humanities and Communication
The mission of the Department of Humanities and Communication is to students with knowledge and skills needed for two broadly defined activities: (1) understanding and communicating in our diverse and interconnected world; (2) evaluating and making ethical decisions as part of a global community.
The Department provides instruction in a wide range of disciplines to promote cultural awareness, critical thinking, effective leadership and collaboration and informed citizenship. Courses offered by the Department include written and oral communication, intercultural and health communication, education, history, philosophy, religion, art, literature, and film.
Departmental research expands and enriches classroom experiences while also contributing to a variety of professional fields and increasing the reputation of the school. The Department prepares students for lives defined not only by professional success but also by an appreciation of cultures, a commitment to ongoing intellectual growth, and a dedication to making the world a better place.
